International Friendship Day

As part of cultivating our school values of Openness and Sharing, Ascensia Academy held International Friendship Day on 27^th July, celebrating the diversity of cultures and traditions in both Singapore and our school.  Many teachers and visitors kindly agreed to talk to our students about the multi-faceted social fabric of Singapore.

Ascensia students learnt about Singapore’s unique cultural heritage, the Peranakans, and also discussed their own countries’ traditions with each other. Through this, they were exposed to many different mindsets, experiences and viewpoints, which greatly broadened their horizons. As part of the sharing process, we also encouraged students to come in traditional garb in order to showcase their cultures.

The students in each class also bonded over traditional local snacks and chatted with our visitors about customs and traditions in Singapore.  

GS Prep Course Students Graduation Celebration

After weeks of hard work, our Government School Prep Course students finally got to celebrate their achievements on the 31^st of October.  Ascensia is proud of all their hard work and took the opportunity to reward them during their Graduation Celebration with a delicious buffet lunch featuring local cuisine.

Alongside the buffet lunch, we also rewarded outstanding students with prizes and certificates. The full list of award winners is as follows:

Ascensia Academy Celebrates Teachers' Day

Our students honoured the hard work their teachers put in with their own class celebrations for their form teachers. Students gave their teachers hand-crafted cards and had small class parties, with some classes going the extra mile to show their appreciation by making their own gifts and even presented personalised videos for their teachers.

Ascensia Academy celebrates Chinese New Year!

On the afternoon of the 6th of February, Ascensia kicked off our Chinese New Year celebrations. This year, students were introduced to local Chinese New Year traditions and customs such as the giving of mandarin oranges and the eating of yu sheng.

The festive celebrations served as a cultural exchange point between students of different mutual understanding and acceptance.

Students enthusiastically participated in the activities, munching on such goodies as mandarin oranges and local snacks while eagerly volunteering answers for the day’s Chinese New Year quiz.
