2014 Semester 1: A Retrospective
Semester 1 has come and gone, but has left in its wake many happy memories for sutdents of Ascensia Academy. We at Ascensia Academy would like to share a retrospective of some of the events that occurred over the semester.
ZERO DEMERIT POINTS AWARD
Ascensia Academy rewarded students who had demonstrated good behaviour throughout the term. At the end of every term, students with zero demerit points were awarded a small goodie bag in recognition of their good behaviour.
Prize winners who had demonstrated exceptional and exemplary behaviour throughout the semester by not receiving any demerit points throughout Terms 1 and 2 were each given a special prize.
Pictured below are our prize winners. Congratulations, award winners, and keep up the good work!
OUTDOOR LEARNING EXPERIENCE
In Ascensia, learning isn't just limited to the classroom. Students from Ascensia had the chance to experience outdoor learning as part of a holistic education, allowing them to apply skills previously learnt in the classroom. Younger students from the Government School Preparatory Course demonstrated teamwork by putting their heads together and coming up with a plan for their very own Class Fun Day, while our O-Level Seniors got some practice budgeting and preparing for a class barbeque at East Coast Park.
FOCUS ART CONTEST
At the end of Term 1, the school conducted an art contest for our students to showcase their artistic skills and creativity. The contest centred around our five school Core Values: Faith, Openness, Caring, Unity and Sharing. Many of our students produced amazing artworks and it was a struggle to choose a winner from each class!
CLEANEST CLASS AWARD
Students were encouraged to take responsibility for their own classroom surroundings and environment via the implementation of a Cleanest Class Award conducted over the course of one term. At the end of the term, the class winners were announced and the students in the winning class were each awarded a prize.
This round, the winning classes were the Primary 4 class and the Secondary 1 class!
